We are proud to introduce Reddiyo, a platform that takes the complexity out of endurance training. We aim to be the world’s most effective, delightful, and inclusive endurance training platform.
Today there are many options for generic training plans but people have different goals and come in all different shapes, sizes, ages, and experience levels. The existing tools are insufficient given the diversity of athletes. Most athletes want a better understanding of how they are progressing but they don’t want to spend precious time researching how to understand their data and adapt their plan to meet their specific goals.
That is where Reddiyo comes in. The initial release of Reddiyo is built for cyclists. Our custom dynamic training plans ensure that you can achieve your cycling goals. We plan to support runners and triathletes in the future as well.
How It Works
Reddiyo gathers basic information about you, your goals, and desired days that you can ride. Based on that, we provide you a list of plan types that are suited to achieving your specific goals. You select the plan type best suited for you and Reddiyo builds you a custom training plan. Reddiyo predicts how it expects you to perform throughout the plan. As you progress, it compares your data up against those predictions and makes recommendations on how to adjust your plan accordingly. You always have the option to accept or reject recommendations.
You'll need a Garmin Connect or Polar Flow account with synced heart rate monitor and/or power meter to get the most out of Reddiyo. Once you link your account, we will receive your workout data for processing directly from Garmin or Polar.
Build Your Plan
Provide a plan start date and identify an upcoming event that you are training for (if applicable).
Tell us about your goals. Do you want to get faster, build endurance so you can reach a longer distance comfortably, etc?
Select from a list of plan types suitable for your goals and timeframe.
Choose which days you would like to ride and the training load (hours a week) that you prefer.
Next we'll build workouts around your preferred days and training load preferences then run predictions on how we expect you to perform through the plan’s duration. At this point all you have to do is ride.
The Workout Schedule is the heart of Reddiyo. It provides you a weekly view of all your workouts. Each workout includes a list of steps to perform with your specific heart rate and power zones to target. We also provide you with the expected Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) for each action.
RPE can be helpful in a couple of situations. You can use RPE anytime you don't have power or heart rate metrics to go by. If you usually train with a heart rate monitor and your battery dies, no problem, just aim for the recommended RPE. RPE is totally subjective and can help you gauge your effort. If you are hitting your hr/power zones but the RPE is listed as 5 and you feel like you are at a 9, that tells you it's time to back it off. This might come up if you've got a cold coming on, haven't gotten enough sleep, are ultra stressed, etc. RPE can help you identify those situations where barrelling through will do you no good.
Reddiyo workouts can be performed in many different ways. You can do your workout indoors or outdoors and you can perform your workout with trainer software (e.g. Zwift) or directly on a supported Garmin device.
Bike Computer - If you are using a Garmin bike computer (Wahoo support coming soon) then we will automatically push your daily workout directly to your Garmin Connect account. You will see them in the Garmin Connect app (under training -> workouts) and sync it directly on your bike computer. Based on your preference, the workout will be sent with HR or power targets and as you progress through the actions your computer will tell you when to increase or decrease your efforts.
Indoor Smart Trainer - Reddiyo workouts can be exported into formats supported by smart trainer software (e.g. Zwift or Rouvy). You can export your desired format in Reddiyo and it will be sent to your email. The workout formats ensure that you hit the proper zone at the correct time. Upload the workout to your desired platform and you are all set.
Directly in the App - You can perform the workout directly in the app by pulling up the workout and following each action accordingly. Like any ride, you monitor your heart rate and/or power with your Garmin or Polar device.
After your workout is completed then just sync your workout data with Polar Flow or Garmin Connect and it will automatically show up in Reddiyo. We will process the data, compare the predicted data up against the actuals, and use this information to monitor your progress. In addition, we will provide you with a summary of your workout so that you can see for yourself.
We believe very strongly that subjective data is just as important as the objective data we get from Garmin or Polar. So after you complete your workout, be sure to provide information on how it went (tap the pencil icon, bottom right). This data will be important for monitoring your progress and understanding your perceived difficulty of the different types of workouts.
Plan Adjustments and Recommendations (Beta)
As you move through your plan, Reddiyo monitors your progress. We provide feedback to help challenge you and keep you on track. It will be your decision to accept or reject each recommendation. Nothing happens in the dark. Our current recommendations include, but are not limited to, monitoring your training load (avoiding overtraining/undertraining), adjusting your workload, updating your thresholds, and even providing feedback that you are on track.
Future is Bright
This is just the start and we are very excited about our future. We have a lot of new features coming in the near future, most notably:
- More Specialized Plans - The plan builder is rapidly becoming even more dynamic and will provide even more specialized plans that will target your specific goals and objectives.
- Full-Featured In-App Workout Capabilities - In addition to the current in-app capabilities we will be adding better time management, device connectivity, and in-app feedback.
- More Reddiyo Recommendations - The initial release of the recommendations engine is our foundation. We will continue to monitor your data and provide new recommendations such as cadence monitoring per zone, endurance feedback, form detection, and much more.
- More Activities - Reddiyo’s platform has started with cyclists but this is not our final destination. We will soon be adding in running, swimming, and other activities into Reddiyo.
- More Device Integration - Currently we work with Garmin and Polar Devices. We plan to add Wahoo, Suunto, and other device manufacturers as well. We hold no proprietary hardware arrangements (nor do we want to) and will continue to bring more devices into the fold.
Who We Are
Reddiyo is the vision of Rona Kilmer and Craig Martin, Reddiyo's co-founders. As endurance athletes themselves, they saw a pretty big gap in endurance training software. They built Reddiyo to fill that gap.
Both Rona and Craig have a combined 40+ years of software development experience. This coupled with their passion for endurance sports will help ensure that Reddiyo is the highest quality product geared to solving the problems of endurance athletes.
